Stufe” in its original case of issue; of multi-piece construction; a Maltese cross in silver gilt and extremely well preserved enamels; slightly vaulted; with four national eagles “Hoheitszeichen” between the arms of the cross; vertical pinback with a functional hinge/catch assembly; the reverse maker marked “Silber” and “900” on the revese; unmarked, but displaying the typical manufacturing characteristics of Deschler & Sohn, measuring 49.20 mm (w) x 49.18 mm (h); weighing 29.8 grams. Accompanied by its case of issue, constructed of heavy pressed paper, with a red faux leather (leatherette) exterior; the exterior of the lid with a golden embossed national eagle; lined interior lid embossed with “Orden vom deutschen Alder Verdienstkreuz 2. Stufe” in golden lettering; recessed medal bed; functional spring catch with stud release; severed interior fabric hinge cover; dual exterior metal hinges; measuring 121 mm w) x 120 mm (h); the enamels of the breast star with minor contact marks, but with no chips or cracks of any kind; in overall extremely fine condition.
