An example of an “Eisernes Kreuz 1914 2. Klasse”; a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border; the obverse with a raised central “W”, with the re-institution date “1914” in raised numbering on the lower arm, and the royal crown on the upper arm; the reverse inscribed “Dr. A. Baumann”; with a vertical pinback with a barrel hinge and a round wire catch - with the addition of a clasp to keep the cross from accidentally falling off; measuring 43.18 mm (w) x 43.13 mm (h); with the paint on the obverse lightly worn, with light traces of oxidation and chipping; in overall better than very fine condition.
