(Deutsches Afrika Korps); This is a well preserved German DAK (Deutsches Afrikakorps/German Africa Corps) field cap (Einheitsmütze), constructed of olive-drab coloured cotton. This cap features non-removable side skirts two breather holes on either side, along with a cardboard reinforced visor at the front. Towards the front of the cap is a BeVo style Tropical Wehrmacht eagle in silvery grey and light brown machine embroidery, along with a matching tri-colour cockade, and a soutache constructed of light green coloured weaving (indicative of Panzergrenadier). The insignia are original to the cap and appear to be machine stitched to the cap. The interior is lined in trademark bright-red cotton that is stamped “53 L.L.Gen Mützen Niedersachsen, Hersteller Nr. 61 - 1941” with a black stamp. The cap measures approximately 260 mm x 160 mm, with only light signs of period wear, from light discolouration in the interior liner from sweat; in overall extremely fine condition.
