Item #G33491

$1,845
This is a well preserved German DAK (Deutsches Afrikakorps/German Africa Corps) field cap (Einheitsmütze), constructed of olive-drab coloured cotton fabric. This cap features non-removable side skirts, and two breather holes on either side, along with a cardboard reinforced visor at the front. Towards the front of the cap is a BeVo style Tropical Wehrmacht eagle in silvery grey and light brown machine embroidery, along with a matching tri-colour cockade, and a soutache constructed of red coloured weaving (indicative of Artillery). The insignia are original to the cap and appear to be machine stitched to the cap. The interior is lined in trademark bright-red cotton that is stamped “55 M41 Karl Kubach Mützen Fabrik Mainz Kastel” with a black stamp. It also features a sweatband with a matching olive-drab coloured exterior. The cap measures approximately 275 mm x 175 mm, with only light signs of period wear, including a small hole in the crown of the cap, as well as light discolouration in the interior liner from sweat; in overall near extremely fine condition.
