Bavaria. An Order of Military Merit, Miniature Officer’s Cross in Gold with Flames

An extremely fine quality example of a Bavarian Order of Military Merit Officer’s Cross (Bayerische Militärverdienstorden Offizierkreuz) miniature pendant; a golden Maltese cross with four arms in blue enamels; the obverse with a central black enameled medallion bearing a gold crowned cipher of King Ludwig III within a white enameled border in the form of a buckled belt with gold letters reading “Merenti” (Latin - “Merit”); with a crown soldered atop the upper arm of the cross; the reverse plain, with a small disc to which the obverse medallion is attached; on a loop for suspension; measuring 15.60 mm (w) x 26.50 mm; weighing 2.8 grams; in overall virtually mint condition.
