Constructed of silver flat and round wires forming a frame, all superimposed on black velvet, with loops on the corner to be sewn up, measures 51.2mm x 51.8mm approximately, it weighs 4.4 grams, without any date on the cross, backing on reverse is beige colored leather, in worn condition, a very fine quality worn example, and very rare.
Footnote: the first types of 1813 Iron Cross 1st Class (produced 1813-1815) were often produced as cloth/silver bullion examples, to be worn sewn up onto the uniform, as many period paintings indicate.
