Austria; Two-piece construction, silver with red, white and green enamels, marked with a Diana's head (Dianakopf) hallmark, the head flanked by a "3" (silver fineness) on the left and marked with the assay city mark "A" (Vienna) on the right, marked "A" (Vienna) and maker marked "V M" (Vincent Mayer Sons, Vienna) on the integral ring, marked "A" (Vienna) on the loop, 36.5 mm (w) x 44.8 mm (h), original triangular ribbon with hook and eye, intact enamels, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Austrian Red Cross was founded in 1880 and accepted by the International Committee of the Red Cross the same year. After the First World War, the organization joined the International Federation of Red Cross Societies in 1921.
