A lot of four Imperial Bavarian Commemorative medals, consisting of 1) A 1905-1912 issue Prinz Luiltpold medal in bronze (Prinzregent Luitpold Medaille in Bronze); a bronze cross; with its period original tri-fold ribbon; measuring 32.22 mm (w) x 43.89 mm (h); weighing 24.4 grams with its ribbon. 2) A 1913-1918 Issue Bavarin Miltiary Service Decoration 3rd Class for 9 Years of Service (Militär Dienstauszeichnung 3. Klasse für 9 Dienstjahre; a new-silver medallion; measuring 33.21 mm in diameter; weighing 17.3 grams with its ribbon. 3-4) Two 1916-1918 Issue King Ludwig Cross; a blackened bronze crosses; measuring 39.68 mm (w) x 45.69 mm (h) - weighing 18.3 grams with its ribbon and measuring 39.56 mm (w) x 45.64 mm (h) - weighing 23.8 grams with its ribbon; in overall very fine condition.

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
