Germany. A Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger Badge by JMME & Sohn of Berlin

A well preserved example of a mid-war production Luftwaffe Paratrooper (Fallschirmjäger) badge; known as the "Fletched & Flawless Wing" version from its fletched upper wing and flawless transition between the upper and lower wing; in silvered and gilded tombac; the obverse consisting of a wreath of laurel and oak leaves with a eagle superimposed on the badge; the reverse plain, but depicting two rivets; with a vertical pinback, a barrel hinge, and a round wire catch; maker marked “JMME & Sohn, Berlin” on the reverse of the eagle; “H. Balcke, 8/3” etched by hand into the badge; measuring 42.06 mm (w) x 52.51 mm (h); weighing 38.0 grams; in overall extremely fine condition.
