An extremely well preserved second war medal bar grouping, consisting of 1) An Iron Cross 1939 Second Class “Schinkel Version”; a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border; on loop for suspension; the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re-institution date “1939” in raised numbering on the lower arm; the reverse with the original institution date “1813” in raised numbering on the lower arm; measuring 42.68 mm (w) x 43.11 mm (h). 2) A Four Year Long Service Medal “Dienstauszeichnung IV. Klasse für 4 Dienstjahre”; circular silvered metal (magnetic); on loop for suspension; the obverse with the German eagle in the centre, circumscribed in German Gothic lettering “Treue Dienste in der Wehrmacht” (Faithful Service in the Armed Forces); the reverse with the raised number “4” centrally within an oak wreath border; measuring 30.30 mm. Mounted from their period original medal bar using their period original ribbons - the long service decoration with its matching miniature eagle; zink core; dark blue wool backer; horizontal pinback; measuring 68 mm (w) x 60 mm (h); in near mint condition.
