Military Order of the Serpent Membership Badge (bronze, unmarked, 31.2 mm (w) x 37 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring suspension, frayed original ribbon with pinback hanger, glue residue evident on the reverse); National Board for the Promotion of Rifle Practice Marksmanship Badge (bronze gilt, maker marked "BLACKINTON" on the reverse, 33.7 mm (w) x 50.5 mm (h), with three qualification clasps (Marksman, Sharpshooter, Expert) suspended below, the badge itself suspended from a pinback hanger inscribed "JUNIOR SMALL BORE"); and Union Veteran Legion 24th Encampment at Washington Representative's Medal 1909 (red bronze, maker marked "J.K. DAVISON PHILA." on the obverse, 35.2 mm, original ribbon inscribed in silver-coloured ink "WASHINGTON 1909 U.V.L.", suspended from a red bronze pinback hanger inscribed "UNION VETERAN LEGION REPRESENTATIVE"). This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
