Germany, Third Reich. A Close Combat Clasp, Bronze Grade, by Josef Feix & Söhne
A second war German “Nahkampfspange”; in bronzed zink; the obverse with a national eagle and a bayonet and hand grenade in the centerpiece, with sun rays emanating from the centre of the left and right sides, and with four oak leaves and two acorns on each side; the reverse plain, with a square magnetic backing plate; horizontal pinback with a crimped barrel hinge and a crimped flat wire catch on the reverse; maker marked “JFS” for “Josef Feix & Söhne“ and marked by the designer “Peekhaus, Berlin” on the reverse; measuring 97.69 mm (w) x 26.73 mm (h); weighing 30.7 grams; with all of its original finish worn off, but with enough of its bronzing remaining to positively identify this as a bronze grade Close Combat Clap; in overall better than fine condition.
