Item #G35823

$412
A fine example of a well preserved third reich period German Wehrmacht Heer (Army) Panzer Officer’s M38 pattern overseas cap, constructed of thick grey wool, with fold-down scallops to the front and side. The crown, and the front edges of the scalloped side panels feature embroidered silver/aluminum piping, indicating the rank of Officer. The front of the cap features a machine embroidered Wehrmacht eagle, constructed of silvery aluminum and dark green machine embroidery, that is hand-sewn to the cap. Directly below is a bright red embroidered soutache, indicating Artillery, sewn to the cap in a triangular fashion, with a bullion version of a national cockade, consisting of a black wool backer, and black and silver wires, with a red felt core. The cap is lined on the interior with a grey cotton lining, with a grey faux leather sweatband towards the front third of the cap. It measures 270 mm x 95 mm. It is well preserved, with light mothing and thinning of the wool, but otherwise very well preserved, without holes or tears of any kind. A lightly worn example in overall better than extremely fine condition.
