An extremely well preserved mid-war example of a Kriegsmarine E-Boat Badge (Zerstörerkriegsabzeichen); constructed of gilded and silvered tombac; in the shape of a laurel wreath, with a national eagle perched on the top of the badge clutching a mobile swastika, with a side-view of a destroyer cutting through a wave, with the bow of the ship extending over the wreath; plain reverse, with a center catch for stabilization and a horizontal banjo style pinback with a barrel hinge and a flat wire catch; maker marked “Schwerin, Berlin” and designer marked “Peekhaus, Berlin” on the reverse; measuring 52.08 mm (w) x 59.76 mm (h); weighing 28.8 grams; with the majority of its original finish still intact; in overall better than extremely fine condition.
