Germany. A Silver Grade Tank Badge by Hermann Aurich

A second war German “Panzerkampfabzeichen”; oval shaped silvered zink; the obverse with a border of oak leaves with a tie at the base and a Panzerkampfwagen IV superimposed in the centre on grassy ground, with its left tank track extending over the edge of the badge; the reverse plain with a vertical needle style pin, a crimped sheet metal hinge, and a crimped round wire catch; maker marked with the stylized logo of “Hermann Aurich” on the reverse; measuring 41.72 mm (w) x 60.00 mm (h); weighing 33.8 grams; with all of its original silver finish worn off, but with enough remaining to positively identify this as a silver grade tank badge; in overall better than fine condition.
