Germany, Third Reich. A Packeted Order of the German Eagle Bronze Merit Medal by the Vienna Mint

An example of an Order of the German Eagle Bronze Merit Medal (Deutsche Verdienstmedaille des Deutschen Adler); a bronze medal; the obverse depicting the outline of the Order of the German Eagle; the reverse inscribed “Deutsche Verdienstmedaille” in block letters; on a loop for suspension from its period original ribbon featuring a horizontal pinback (marked “30” for Hauptmünzamt, Wien, III”; measuring 38.1 mm in diameter; weighing 21.2 grams. Accompanied by its original packet of issue; the obverse with “Deutsche Bronzene Verdienstmedaille mit Schwertern” printed in black lettering; the reverse was stamped “Preussische Staatsmünze, Berlin”, but then redacted and substituted with “Hauptmünzamt Wien III”; measuring 59 mm (w) x 108 mm; in virtually mint condition.
