An example of a worn Fieldgendarmerie gorget; constructed of silvered die-stamped steel, the obverse depicting an eagle with spread-out wings, two buttons (one on either side), and a ribbon banner inscribed “Feldgendarmerie”, all with a glow-in-the-dark radium finish, the reverse with a metal hook for the chain, and an additional stabilizing hook to be attached to the uniform, with a field-grey wool backer, measuring 164 mm (w) x 73 mm (h); the wool backer has started to remove itself from the gorget, with light chipping to the original paint; in overall better than fine condition.
