An example of a well preserved Silver Grade Close Combat Clasp (Nahkampfspange in Silber); in silvered vaulted zink; the obverse with a national eagle and a bayonet and hand grenade in the centerpiece, with sun rays emanating from the centre of the left and right sides, and with four oak leaves and two acorns on each side; the reverse plain, with a square magnetic backing plate; horizontal pinback with a barrel hinge and a flat wire catch on the reverse; maker marked “F& BL” for Funcke & Brüninghaus of Lüdenscheid on the reverse; vaulted; measuring 97.63 mm (w) x 26.70 mm (h); with nearly all of the original silver finish intact on the reverse, with scattered wear on the reverse; in overall extremely fine condition.
