An extremely rare example of this award, in Alpaka by Johann Wagner & Sohn, with name, rank and award date engraved to the obverse: "UNTEROFFIZIER EMIL REHER AM 26.12.1943", measuring 281 mm in diameter, 397 grams, finely toned and extremely fine. Only about 50 honor salvers have ever been awarded. The exact number is unknown. Extremely rare. Footnote: The Honour Salver for Distinguished Battle Achievements (Ehrenschale für hervorragende Kampfleistungen) of the Luftwaffe was instituted on June 15, 1942. It was rewarded to distinguished Luftwaffe ground troop members who had already received the Iron Cross 1st Class and the Luftwaffe Ground Assault Badge. The exact number awarded is unknown, sources list about 50 to nearly 100 and counting.
