(Verdienstorden der Bundesrepublic Deutschland), consisting of 1) A Commander’s Cross; constructed of gilt bronze and red enameled arms; the obverse and reverse with a black enameled eagle; on a loop and broad ring for suspension from its period original full size neck ribbon; measuring 60.12 mm (w) x 59.77 mm (h); weighing 46.2 grams. 2) An Officer Cross; constructed of gilt bronze and red enameled arms; the obverse with a black enameled eagle; the reverse plain; on a loop for suspension from its period original ribbon featuring a horizontal pinback; measuring 54.14 mm (w) x 54.15 mm (h); weighing 22.0 grams; 3) A Medal of Merit; in bronze gilt; with a red enameled cross on the obverse with a black enameled eagle in the centre; on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon; measuring 37.69 mm in diameter; in virtually mint condition.

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
