(Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern im Etui). A maltese cross in bronzed tombak with crossed swords between the arms of the cross; the obverse with crossed swords between the arms of the cross and a circular raised border of oak leaves on the obverse with a raised mobile swastika in the center; the reverse with a vertical banjo style pinback and a functional hinge/catch assembly; marked 1 on pin for Deschler, measuring 48.46 mm (w) x 48.38 mm (h); weighing 22.7 grams. Accompanied by its original box of issue; constructed of thick card stock, with an outline of a War Merit Cross with swords embossed on the exterior of the lid; lined interior lid, with a slotted medal bed and a fully intact exterior leatherette hinge; measuring 68 mm (w) x 68 mm (h); some discoloration on the cross from age, but in overall mint condition.
