1815-1918 Issue. (Großherzoglich Sächsischer Hausorden vom Weißen Falken). Consisting of 1) A Grand Cross for General Merit (Großkreuz für Allgemeine Verdienste); a gold Maltese cross with green enameled arms, the obverse with a large leftward facing white enameled falcon superimposed in the center; the reverse with a central gilt applique with bright blue enamels, inscribed “Vigilando Ascendimus” (Latin - We rise through watchfulness), with white enameled arms; suspended from a hollow swivel crown suspension, with a horizontally pierced ball and loop for suspension - with its secondary loop for attachment to the sash; measuring 50.65 mm (w) x 51.10 mm (h); weighing 22.7 grams. 2) A Breast Star to the Grand Cross for General Service (Bruststern zum Großkreuz für Allgemeine Verdienste); a silver eight-pointed star; the obverse with a central silver gilt medallion depicting a small leftward facing white enameled falcon, surrounded by a silver gilt ring and a bright blue enameled ring, inscribed “Vigilando Ascendimus” (Latin - We rise through watchfulness); the reverse plain, with a vertical pinback and a functional hinge/catch assembly; maker marked “Th. Müller, Hofjuwilier, Weimar” on the reverse; measuring 89.74 mm (w) x 88.24 mm (h); weighing 65.6 grams. Accompanied by its period original and full size sash ribbon; light loss of the gilt finish on the Grand Cross; in overall better than extremely fine condition.
