Instituted 1815. 1815-1841 Issue. A I Class Commander Breast Star KCH in the typical French style, in silver with an impressive Gold faceted centre exhibiting a superposed silver horse on a finely red-enamelled medallion, with exquisitely hand files Gold letters, and pierced edges, surrounded by a well executed green-enamel laurels in Gold, sword hilts also in Gold, reverse with dual pin assembly typical of the time period, with replacement dual catch, signed "Beaugeois Bijoutier aParis," a French maker of the early nineteenth century, measuring 93.24 mm (w) x 88.77 mm (h), adjoining some replacement tips of the star, otherwise extremely fine condition.

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
