Germany. A Scarce Aluminum Version of a Luftwaffe Radio Operator & Air Gunner Badge by Assmann & Söhne

(Fliegerschützenabzeichen). Constructed of an oval aluminum oak and laurel wreath, tied together at the base using three ribbons, with an eagle clutching a mobile swastika superimposed on the badge; the reverse plain, with two rivets for attachment of the eagle to the wreath; with a vertical pinback, an integrated hinge, and a crimped round wire catch; maker marked with the logo of “Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid” and “DRGM” on the reverse; measuring 42.86 mm (w) x 53.78 mm (w); weighing 12.8 grams; in better than extremely fine condition.
