Germany. A DRK (German Red Cross) Service Medal

(Deutsches Rotes Kreuz Verdienst Ehrenzeichen). Two-piece construction; in silvered bronze and red, white, and black enamels; the obverse with a large enameled red cross within a white enameled ring, with a black enameled eagle fastened to the centre, clutching a wreath with a mobile swastika in the center; the reverse of the cross lightly textured and inscribed “Für Verdienste um das Deutsche Rote Kreuz” (German - For Service for the German Red Cross); on a loop for suspension from a slightly too narrow period original ribbon; measuring 38.16 mm in diameter; weighing 14.2 grams; in overall extremely fine condition.
