Of superb quality and craftsmanship, typical of the period, in 18k Gold consisting of four near black enameled arms within Gold framing, ornate design in Gold in each quadrant, obverse centre applique a hand painted St.Anne (Anna Petrovna, daughter of Peter the Great of Russia), reverse centre blue hand painted initials "A.I.P.F." (for "Anna Imperatoris Petri Filia": "Anna, Emperor Peter's daughter" in Latin) on white enamel, integral ring Gold hallmarked 56 and city marked for St. Petersburg (1873-1898), industry unidentified makers marked, measuring 38.8 mm (w) x 42.4 mm (h - inclusive of integral ring), 11.00 grams, on short section of period ribbon, with light area on reverse 3 o'clock arm, extremely fine.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
