Germany. A Kriegsmarine Destroyer War Badge by Gebrüder Wegerhoff

(Zerstörerkriegsabzeichen). Constructed of silvered and gilded tombac; consisting of an oval wreath of laurel leaves with a national eagle perched on the top of the badge clutching a swastika, and a side-view of a destroyer cutting through a wave, with the bow of the ship extending over the wreath; plain reverse, with a center catch for stabilization and a horizontal slender banjo style pinback with a barrel hinge and a round wire catch; unmarked, but displaying the typical manufacturing characteristics of Gebrüder Wegerhoff manufacture; measuring 44.83 mm (w) x 54.23 mm (h); weighing 26.1 grams; in overall better than very fine condition.
