Germany. A Luftwaffe Observer’s Badge

(Beobachterabzeichen). Constructed of an oval silvered and patinated tombac in the shape of an oak and laurel wreath, tied together at the base using three ribbons, with an eagle clutching a mobile swastika superimposed on the badge; the reverse plain, with two rivets for attachment of the eagle to the wreath; with a vertical pinback, a barrel hinge and a round wire catch; unmarked; measuring 52.78 mm (w) x 52.91 mm (h); weighing 33.5 grams; in overall extremely fine condition.
