Germany. A Knight’s Cross of the War Merit Cross, by Deschler & Sohn, c.1942

(Ritterkreuz des Kriegsverdienstkreuzes). A Maltese cross in silver with pebbled arms; the obverse with a raised oak wreath with a mobile swastika in the center; the reverse with a similar raised oak wreath, dated “1939” in the center; marked “900” for silver content and “1” for “Deschler & Sohn. München” on the reverse - the oak leaf positioned on the reverse at the seven o’clock position also demonstrates the “single dot” die flaw signature to all Knight’s Crosses of the War Merit Cross without Swords by this maker; accompanied by a correct replacement ribbon; measuring 52.95 mm (w) x 52.60 mm (h); weighing 34.2 grams; in overall near mint condition.
