(Franz Joseph Orden Ritterkreuz). 1914-1918 Issue. A cross with double headed crowned eagle in gilt bronze, with a central white enameled medallion inscribed “FJ”, along with chains and “Viribus Unitis” (Latin - United Strength) inscribed in bronze gilt; the reverse of the cross with a a central white enameled medallion dated “1849”; with a swivel crown suspension and its period original tri-fold ribbon featuring a set of crossed swords, as well as a small insignia of a Commander Star with War Decoration; maker marked on the ring for “Wilhelm Kunz, Wien”, with a star, measuring 31.90 mm (w) x 57.11 mm (h); weighing 20.0 grams; in better than extremely fine condition.
