An unofficial period cast example and likely of local manufacture, a single cast award in silver, a Maltese cross with ball finials, lions in each quadrant, obverse centre applique in Gold and enamels depicting the horse of Hanover with blue enameled surround with Motto Nec Aspera Terrent (Not afraid of difficulties), reverse centre in silver gilt and enamels with cypher of King Ernest Augustus I, adorned by silver gilt crown, measuring 29mm (w) x 56 mm (h - inclusive of horizontally pierced ball suspension and cross), exhibiting signs of heat damage to enamels with loss, a worn example, good.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps.
