Germany. A Luftwaffe Issue Demjansk Campaign Shield

(Luftwaffe Demjansk Schild). Constructed of stamped silvered zink; the obverse depicting a national eagle with swooped down wings, clutching a wreathed swastika, with a log-pillbox on either side, inscribed Demjansk” in capital letters with a frontal view of a single-propeller plane, and two crossed swords, with the institution year “1942” below; on a Luftwaffe grey wool backer; the reverse with its paper backer intact, with all four prongs intact below it; measuring 61 mm (w) x 104 mm (h); in overall better than very fine condition.
