Germany, Wehrmacht. A Standard Service Belt Buckle, by H. Arld of Nürnberg, c. 1942
(Wehrmacht Koppelschloss für Mannschaften). Constructed of stamped olive-drab steel; the obverse with a raised field with a German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, surrounded by the inscription “GOTT MIT UNS” (German - God with us) on the top half, with a laurel wreath tied together at the base via a ribbon on the bottom half; the reverse plain, marked “H.A 42”, with a standard soldered catch and a dual prong spring bar; attached to the spring bar is a light brown leather belt tab - marked “H. Arld, Lüdenscheid” and dated “1942” on the obverse; measuring 64 mm (w) x 48 mm (h); in mint condition.
