Hessen-Darmstadt. A Silver Medal for Bravery, with its Original Packet of Issue

(Silberne Medaille for Bravery). Issued 1850-1889. A round silver medal; the obverse depicting a leftward facing Ludwig III, circumscribed by his name and title; the reverse inscribed “FÜR TAPFERKEIT” (German - For Bravery) within an open-ended laurel and oak wreath; measuring 33.19 mm in diameter; weighing 14.6 grams. Accompanied by its packet of issue; constructed of paper, with “Tapferkeitsmedaille” printed in black lettering on the obverse; measuring 56 mm (w) x 71 mm (h); in overall very fine condition.
