Germany, Wehrmacht. A Wound Badge, Gold Grade

(Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold). Oval shaped gilded zink; the obverse pebbled with a Stahlhelm in the centre featuring a large mobile swastika on its side superimposed on crossed swords within a wreath of laurel leaves with a tied bow at the bottom; the reverse plain with a vertical needle style pin, an integrated hinge and integrated catch; unmarked; measuring 36.60 mm (w) x 44.31 mm (h); weighing 21.3 grams; with all of its original gilt worn off, but with enough remaining on the reverse of the pin to positively identify this badge as a gold grade wound badge; in overall fine condition.
