(Albrechtsorden Ritterkreuz 2. Klasse, mit Schwertern). Issued 1879-1918. A Latin cross in silver with white enameled arms, the obverse with a central white enameled medallion bearing the leftward facing bust of Herzog Albrecht in gold, surrounded by a blue enameled ring, inscribed “Albertus Animous” (Latin - Albert the Merciful), along with arabesques towards the bottom of the enameled ring all in gold, the reverse with a crowned Royal Coat of Arms in gold, surrounded by a blue enameled ring dated “1850” along with arabesques, on loop for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon, measuring 35.84 mm (w) x 46.31 mm (h); weighing 20.0 grams; in overall extremely fine condition.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
