A silver gilt Maltese cross with the edges of the cross with white enamels and green enameled florets between the arms of the cross; the obverse with a central yellow enameled medallion, depicting St. Henry wielding a tri-pronged scepter, surrounded by a blue enameled ring, inscribed “Frid(ericus), Aug(ustus) d(ei) Garatia) Rex Sax(oniae) Instrauravit (Latin - Frederick August by the Grace of God, King of Saxony); the reverse with a silver gilt and enameled center applique, surrounded by a blue enameled ring, inscribed “Virtuti in Bello” (Latin - For bravery in war); suspended from a swivel crown suspension; with a horizontally-pierced ball and ring suspension; measuring 38.21 mm (w) x 37.53 mm (h); weighing 22.3 grams; in overall extremely fine condition.
