A finely made star in silver gilt, consisting of alternating double diamond etched and smooth armed rays, obverse centre presenting a white enameled double headed eagle, adorned by Serbian crown and blue enamel tassels, white enameled Serbian cross with a fire-steel in each quadrant, reverse with pin assembly, pin maker marked G.A.S for Austrian maker Georg Adam Scheid, Austrian silver hallmarked AA, with enamel loss to blue ribbons, otherwise extremely fine.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps.
