Germany, Luftwaffe. An Air Gunner Badge (Without Lightning Bolts), by F.W. Assmann

(Fliegerschützenabzeichen für Bordschützen). Manufactured without lightning bolts in silvered and patinated aluminum; the obverse consisting of an oak and laurel wreath with a mobile swastika at the base, with an eagle superimposed on the badge; the reverse plain, with two rivets for the attachment of the eagle, with a vertical pin, a barrel hinge, and a crimped round wire catch; double marked with the logo for “F.W. Assmann & Sohn, Lüdenscheid” on the reverse of the eagle and the wreath; measuring 42.80 mm (w) x 53.62 mm (h); weighing 15.1 grams; one of the rivets broken - thus the eagle is loose; in unworn and overall virtually mint condition.
