Bavaria, Kingdom. A 1881 Merit Medal to Eduard Kaempfer in the Arts

Constructed of silver; the obverse depicting the leftward facing bust of Ludwig Rex, circumscribed by his name and title; the reverse inscribed “ACADEMIA ARTIUM BOICA BENE MERITO” (Latin - Academic Strength in the Arts); inscribed “EDUARD KAEMPFER” and “1881” along the edge of the medal; measuring 48.11 mm in diameter; weighing 57.8 grams; in overall very fine condition.
