In Gold, a beautiful red enameled Greek cross featuring white enameled stripes on its arms, obverse centre in Gold exhibiting detailed enameled Spanish coat of arms, reverse centre applique in white enamels depicting the inscription MM (Military Merit) also in Gold, surmounted by typical of time period Spanish crown in Gold, measuring 32.28 mm (w) x 51.64 mm (h - inclusive of crown suspension, integral ring, and cross), weighting 18k, with minor crack in the crown, extremely fine.     
 
Footnote: The Order of Military Merit was established in Spain by the Queen Isabel II on August 3, 1864. It was founded to reward the Spanish Armed Forces, including the Civil Guard, in recognition of gallantry and military merits in times of war and peace. The Pensioned Division was awarded to retired military personnel in recognition of meritorious service during time of war.
