Instituted in 1922. Badge: in bronze gilt, measuring 45 mm (w) x 79 mm (h), on its full-length original sash; and Breast Star: in bronze gilt, maker "MADE IN ETHIOPIA" and maker marked "B.A. SEVADJIAN" on the pin, measuring 71.3 mm (w) x 74.5 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual prongs. Contact marks evident on the reverse of both awards, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of the Queen of Sheba was originally instituted as a ladies' order in 1922 in the Ethiopian Empire by Empress Zawditu. It can now be awarded both sexes, normally Royal or heads of state. It comes in five grades: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, Knight, but it appears that only the Grand Cross has been awarded.
