Vatican. A Medal Pair from the Papacy of Pope Pius XI, (1922-1939)

Commemorative Medal for the Fiftieth Jubilee of Pope Pius XI's Election to Archbishop, 2nd Class, Silver Grade (Medaglia commemorativa del gubileo episcopale di Papa Pio XI). Instituted in 1929: in silver, engraver marked on the obverse, measuring 32.7 mm in diameter; and Pius XI Benemerenti Cross (in silver gilt with red enamels, measuring 31 mm (w) x 67 mm (h) inclusive of its crown and crossed keys suspension. Mounted to a suspension with swing bar pinback, intact enamels, scattered surface wear on the Jubilee Medal, original ribbons, near extremely fine. In a hardshelled case, marked with the British Royal crown and maker marked "ASPREY 166 BOND ST LONDON" on the inside lid, scuffing on the exterior, lightly soiled medal bed, case very fine.
