Germany. A Gendarmerie NCO’s Visor Cap

(Gendarmerie Schirmmütze). The exterior of the cap is constructed of average quality field-gray wool. It features a traditional high peak crown with tightly seated and even orange piping, indicative of Gendarmerie, running along the crown of the cap, as well as the top and bottom edges of the cap band. The cap band itself is constructed of light brown wool. On the front of the cap is a metal tri-colour cockade with a traditional silvered feinzink police eagle attached directly beneath. The visor is crafted of Vulkanfiber with a molded raised ridge running along the brim. It is lacquered in glossy black on the obverse, and is coloured in a green checkered pattern on the underside, remaining firmly attached to the cap. The three-piece glossy black leather chin cord rests upon the visor, with black magnetic length-adjustment buckles on either side, and is fastened to the cap via two black-finished magnetic buttons. The interior of the cap is lined in light brown water resistant oil cloth with a clear celluloid diamond sewn to the underside of the crown. Along the edge of the cap is also a light brown faux leather sweatband. The cap measures 263 mm (w) x 266 mm (h). This cap shows signs of wear, including thinning in the wool, light moth nips, as well as heavy soiling on the interior of the cap. In good condition.
