A Maltese cross constructed of silvered bronze with black enameled arms, and with crossed swords between the arms of the cross; the obverse with a white enameled central applique, depicting a black enameled eagle, circumscribed “Preussens Tapferen Kriegern” (German - Prussia’s Brave Combatants) in gilt lettering, surrounded by an oak wreath and topped by a Prussian royal crown; the reverse plain, with a vertical pin, a sheet metal hinge, and a flat wire catch; marked “69” on the reverse; measuring 44.83 mm (w) x 44.59 mm (h); in overall extremely fine condition.
