Prussia, State. A Cased Silver Remembrance Medal for the Samaritan Queen Augusta

(Samariter Medaille). A round silver medal; the obverse depicting a cross, surrounded by an open ended laurel and oak wreath and the inscription “DER SAMARITERIN AUF DEM THRONE 7. JANUAR. 1890”; the reverse depicting the rightward facing bust of Augusta, circumscribed by her name and title; measuring 28.46 mm in diameter; weighing 8.7 grams. Accompanied by its case of issue; constructed of heavy cardstock with a black faux leather (leatherette) exterior; the exterior embossed “ZUM ANDENKEN”; with a lined interior lid, a recessed medal bed, a functional spring catch with stud release, and a functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 52 mm (w) x 52 mm (h); the reverse with a maker’s label, reading “Carl Weishaupt, München”; in overall better than very fine condition.
