Hesse-Darmstadt. A House Order of the Golden Lion, Gold Collar, c.1925

(Hausorden des Goldenen Löwen, Kette). Instituted 1770 by Landgraf (count) Frederick II of Hesse-Kassel. A fine and privately made Gold collar, crafted in 18kt Gold (tested and marked); the links consisting of fourteen golden lion links, and fourteen shield links that are inscribed with “FL” for “Landgraf Friedrich II”; each link is separated via three small looped chain links on the bottom link, and a single chain link on the top link; the reverse is marked “18k” twice on a link; weighing 195 grams; in overall extremely fine condition.
