Germany, SS. A 1938 Aluminum Buckle with Belt

(Waffen-SS Koppelschloss und Gürtel). Constructed of cast aluminum; the obverse with a standard SS motif consisting of a national eagle with spread wings, clutching a static swastika in its talons, and the SS motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue” in raised lettering surrounding the wreathed swastika between two ropes; the reverse with standard double-claw prongs and a cast catch; marked “RZM 822/38 SS” on the reverse of the buckle; measuring 63 mm (w) x 48 mm (h). The belt is fabricated from very thick leather, with both sides with a smooth finish. One end with a metal receiver clip stitched into place (marked P.M), the other with an additional leather tab with eight rows of two vertically oriented holes for length adjustment of the belt, measuring approximately 99 cm x 4.2 cm, being a worn example in good condition.
