The set consisting of 1) A silver eight-pointed multi-rayed star with a white enameled Seipel’s cross; the reverse plain; with a vertical pinback, barrel hinge, and round wire catch; marked “Anton Reitterer Juwelier Wien IX Schubertg 24” on the reverse; measuring 78.06 mm (w) x 77.28 mm (h); weighing 56.6 grams. 2) A silver gilt white enameled Seipel’s cross; the obverse and reverse similarly enameled; suspended from a triple loop suspension from its shortened period original neck ribbon; measuring 40.54 mm (w) x 43.85 mm (h); weighing 34.4 grams. In overall extremely fine condition.

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
