(Order of Nichan Iftikhar). Instituted 1835. III Version 1857-1957. Type VI - Muhammad VI al-Habib 1922-1929. A large silver sash badge consisting of a ten armed star with alternating red and green enamels, with clusters of three silver rays in each quadrant, obverse centre presenting the Royal cypher of Muhammad VI al-Habib in silver on a green enameled background, reverse with large makers cartouche of Kretly, measuring 60 mm (w) x 90 mm (h - inclusive of bow suspension and horizontally pierced ball), with minor enamel loss, on period silk sash, very fine. Accompanied by the star of the order, consisting of a ten armed silver star with clusters of five rays in each quadrant, obverse centre presenting Royal cypher of Muhammad VI al-Habib on green enamel background, reverse with dual stays and principle pin assembly, hallmarked on pin and catch with boars head denoting French small silver guarantee post 1838, measuring 81 mm (w) x 84 mm (h), near extremely fine.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
